I love hangouts

Id expect a messaging app to support split screen multitasking like Facebooks Messenger, Skype or iMessage. Thats a functionality Id love to see in an update!

So far the best wifi calling app in existence. Very reliable and consistent as long as you have good wifi signal

Hangouts is by far the best cross platform app for voice, video, and IM.

I use Hangouts for chat within email and on my phone, and sometimes as an alternative to Skype. Has always worked well for me!

I like how I can use it on my phone, iPad, and work computer all at once.

Hey Google could you make that little logo that lights up every now and then for the person your texting make it only light up when the person is viewing your text message that would be better

very good app

I used this product for more than 2 years and I think it saves me a lot of money and using the wifi from university I can get a relatively high quality calling and text service. I would recommend to those who really want to save some money for other stuff. The only problem with this is that it heavily relies on wifi. Overall it is a good app by google.

Call logging improved. Contacts integration is still inexcusably weak and no better than it was. Devs finally seem to have begun lifting a finger to improve parts of the app, but contacts are still weak. Poor dialer. Favorites interface is unintuitive and poorly designed. Interface wont save most-dialed numbers, only screen names that have actual Google Hangouts accounts. The Google Voice app is better in this respect. In fact, youll often find yourself going back to the Google Voice app to get things done. Google Hangouts interfaces horribly with Contacts, but can at least work with Gboard and paste pics and GIFS, which Google Voice cant. Google Voice can interface terrifically with Contacts, but has the shortcomings listed below.

Had to change work password (expires every 90 days) and in the past it would prompt for a new password when trying to use. If the app didnt prompt for that, I could simply remove the user and add back with updates credentials. With this update, I cannot remove user nor update password. Had to uninstall app and reinstall to use.

There is no obvious option to display the date/time of past calls on the call history screen, unlike the SMS/text message screen. Instead, it is a bunch of the idiotic "one month ago", as if the users cannot figure that out themselves by comparing todays date with a past time stamp. Further, the instruction to switch to the native phone app for calls is as clear as mud: There is no "answer" under Settings in this app. So there, Google/Alphabet, you have made me type out this review using the loathsome soft keyboard on the phone, because I loath your Hangout app even more.

I have been using the app for 2 years, and I only experienced one problem that I cant remember. I really like the app.
