Works very well for me

What counts for me is having the highest audio and video quality on video calls, and Hangouts seems to squeeze out more quality when other platforms (WhatsApp, Viber, Skype) struggle when bandwidth gets tight. I suspect that we are benefitting from Googles high-capacity network, working the in background, plus the software engineers making the right trade-offs when the bandwidth is seriously limited.
