I would give more star ratings if this app had all the current features for the iPad Pro to do split view. Microsoft Skype has had this feature for quite some time.

I have an iPod touch so I cant call. I downloaded this app and it allowed me to call. It was great to communicate with friends and also had cute graphics.

Lots of spam invites and messages are tiresome

When I get a new iOS, i remove the native text app and replace it with this one. With gvoice and gchat, I get access on all devices when ppl are trying to reach me. Its seamless between them.

Ive been using Google hangouts for quite a few months now to meet with a couple other people on a weekly basis. It does pretty well. On a few rare occasions connections have dropped out, but it may be due to issues such as connection speed, etc. Give it a try!

Google Hangouts is pretty handy. I use it with some of my friends. If you already have an account with Google then you already have a Hangouts account. July 2017.

Less latency and freezing than Skype, and group chat is free. Great for "texting" as well

A complete lifesaver when travelling internationally. The phone calls arent dropped, even on spotty wifi.

Hangouts is a awesome app but some times it acts slow and you have to open the app to answer a call

Its a good app (especially with the addition of "Answer on lock screen") but can the suggestions below (in order of priority) be added to make it more functional: 1) Block spam voicemails. The GV app blocks spam calls and voicemails but the hangouts app only blocks spam calls. It still lets the spam voicemails through! Itd also be great to have a spam folder within the Hangouts app like the GV app has. 2) Fix continued ringing after the other party has answered the call. Calls between GV numbers sometimes keep on ringing after the other party has answered which makes it impossible to hear them clearly! 3) Use the actual labels for phone numbers from the contact list. Currently it prioritizes numbers labeled as "mobile" and changes all other labels to "other" even if the contact list has labels like "work mobile" or "GV" which makes it very confusing when starting messages. 4) Move the option for listening to call audio on loudspeaker from a submenu to the main screen like the default iOS Phone app. 5) Organize messages from the same contact on to the same thread regardless of whether its from their different phone numbers or Hangouts profiles. The messages would then show up on one thread in time order. 6) Add ability to intelligently route calls over the phones voice connection using the Phone app like the GV app does. The intelligent part would be that the app would automatically route calls over wifi/data such as if wifi is >=2/5 bars or if data is >=3/5 bars. Give the user the ability to choose the levels for the number of bars. 7) Add ability to search content of Hangouts messages, GV SMS/MMS messages, and GV voicemails. Functionality is in Gmail but please add to Hangouts app. 8) Make an Watch app to answer/place calls and view/send messages. 9) Add ability to send and receive videos. 10) Add ability to reorganize favorites list. Also allow Hangouts to remember the favorites that are selected after logging out or updating the app.

I use this app daily with the texting and video calls. Very useful. 4/5 stars due to occasional lagging.

Good but not great app. It has some cool features and Ive used it to attend meetings remotely. It does not compare well with Slack and Glip.

Better then Messenger at least, doesnt have bugs like all the other google apps do. Great for messaging your friends and family. ❤️

Great product free calls.

I use this Google Hangouts with my marketing team. Works the best for communicating with everyone at once in a group or individually. Very easy to use and it keeps the group as a chat group for future use ready. Wouldnt want to work without it!
